Ciao Bella!

Here we have a gorgeous strand of Vintage Italian Murano Glass beads.

20160816_165411

In everyone’s favourite; blue and white. I think these are exquisite. Beautifully made, each bead unique and individual, capped with a sweet little gilt fixture, and then hand knotted in silk in between, in pristine condition.

Murano is a little collection of islands, just to the north of Venice, Italy, famed for its glass making. In 1291, all the glass makers in Venice were forced to move to Murano due to the risk of fire, and the tradition of bead making began. The glass makers soon became highly revered, and were allowed to wear swords, and marry into the nobility. Murano glass is highly collectable, and sought after. This colour is rare.

This gorgeous necklace is the perfect summer accessory, would look fabulous with white linen.

Available to buy here in my eBay shop, or directly via Paypal. You won’t be disappointed – it’s amazing!

‘He who would search for pearls must dive below’

2015-03-07 13.37.28

Beautiful string of choker length pearls, vintage Ralph Lauren.

Pearls look better the longer you wear them.

Their lustre reacts with the warmth of your skin.

Wearing them makes your smile whiter and brighter.

Here’s my tip of the day, try cleaning your pearls in salt water. They came from the ocean, a watery splash of brine does wonders for their nacre, but not the thread. A quick dip in and out is all you need. Then buff with a chamois leather. Gently!

Here is a marvellous article about our love for pearl jewellery. And you can buy them at my marvellous shop!

Feeling Blue?

Feeling Blue?

These are lush.
And very bright.
Bright turquoise glass beads knotted as a necklace.

Maybe they’re more ‘Celeste’ – a bright sky blue. Or possibly ‘Pearl Mystique’ with a hint of teal.

Actually, I’m going for ‘Cerulean’.

Cerulean blue, first mentioned as a colour in 1590, derived from the Latin word ‘caelum’ meaning heaven or sky.

What do you think?

Anyway, this heavenly necklace doesn’t go back to 1590, but it is vintage.
And it can be yours, right here.

Monet Monet Monet

Monet Monet Monet

We’re talking Michael Monet here, not Claude.

Although there is something quite impressionistic about the finish and texture of these lovely earrings:

Around the time that Claude Monet was putting the finishing touches to his water lillies at Giverny, Michael Monet was launching his costume jewellery business with just $4 to his name.

You can be part of the Monet narrative with these fab drop earrings. They are wonderful quality, and in excellent condition, signed, and perfect for the costume jewellery collector.

Vintage Cloisonne enamel flutterby earrings

Vintage Cloisonne enamel flutterby earrings

These hoop earrings are lush.

Depicting flowers and butterflies, they are beautifully made, super quality, and perfect to complement any outfit.

Very on trend, the colours are vibrant, just what we need after a very monochrome winter.

Butterflies are amazing insects aren’t they? They taste with their feet, and drink from muddy puddles, some butterflies live for only 2 – 4 weeks.

Romantic creatures featuring in ancient myths and legends, their beauty and fragility are renowned.

These stunning earrings will last a little longer than 2 – 4 weeks, and you can treat yourself here!
